Mike Babb & Hatteras "Midnight in New Orleans" Video
Thanks to my cousin Matt for inspiring me to channel a whirlwind of racing thoughts into music. Without his encouragement, I might not have written this tune (the first of over 20 I wrote in a three day period back in the early 2000s). So, in a way, this song laid the foundation for the others. In fact, the line "the old man's still a playing ... for loose change Ripple wine" came from Matt's mind. This tune actually has a bit of a country flavor with a touch of blues guitar, sax and piano -- my thanks to Gene and Shack. And thanks to Ashley for singing background vocals with me. Although this song differs greatly from my other stuff, I was VERY surprised at how many college kids liked it. And even though I wrote & recorded it years before Hurricane Katrina, I want to now dedicate it to those AMERICANS on the Gulf Coast who have yet to recover from that horrible storm. I have some other thoughts about that, but -- this is probably not the place to state them:) Anyway, hope you enjoy and as always appreciate your comments.

Think the Eagles ... Think the Eagles were great. We had Charlie Daniels at homecoming 1980 at bama...all that Devil Went Down to Ga. stuff.? Oh Jeeezus, remember, Neil Diamond's "They're Coming To America"??? ROFL!!
yeah, I heard about ... yeah, I heard about that Stones concert at Auburn . Other famous AU singers -- Bobby Goldsboro ("Honey") and Toni Tenelle (Captain & Tenelle). :) Oh yeah, the guy from American Idol - Taylor Hicks too. Back when I was? a student, the Eagles was one of the big concerts that I remember. Thanks again man for you support of my music ...
Oh, man! I have ... Oh, man! I have respected the eagle's since Farve's days. Don't know why we don't play them anymore. Always stopped into Hattiesburg on the way to NO...funny as this your NO song, ha ha ha . I have one posted by Live I have to share some day.
Did ya also know The Stones performed there (AU) at the stadium in the 70's? saw it on PBS's show Antiques Road Show when a guy got an astronomical valuation? on a concert poster. WOW!! Buffett was a student hen.
Yeah -- I've ... Yeah -- I've listened to Hank III -- and, I like mainly traditional country -- loved Vern Gosdin "the voice." BTW -- Buffett went to Auburn frosh year -- learned to play guitar there from a frat brother -- flunked out --? eventually wound up at S. Miss. Thanks for the compliment man ...
Thanks for the ... Thanks for the clarification. I am not a fan of modern country but the old timers turn me on. Have you ever listened to? any Hank III, Jr.'s son? I can send ya some from hyperdiabolical I uploaded. This one sounds like Buffett to me. That's a compliment dude.
You name it -- rock ... You name it -- rock (all types), blues, country, gospel, r&b,? reggae -- if you listen to a bunch of my music, it is all over the place. This tune would probably be country -- even though, I am more southern rock -- actually, one of my songs, The Coming Monsoon was categorized as alternative rock
Not sure how to ... Not sure how to classify this one. I am not? good with genres. What are your influences bro?
Thank you so much ... Thank you so much man. Honestly, I think it is hit or? miss sometimes on what YT deletes -- it really makes no sense. Just keep up the good fight man ... peace, Mike
